According to Hindu calendar, Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of shravan. In 2014, this special and holy festival will be celebrated on 10th August 2014. There is restricted holiday on this day but this is the bad luck of all the who get a holiday on Sunday as this year in 2014, Raksha Bandha falls on Sunday. 

Raksha bandhan is a typical Hindu festival but in India no festival is only Hindu festival or Muslim festival as people of India come together for the celebration of all the festival. All brothers and sisters celebrate the Raksha Bandhan with same belief. On the day of Raksha Bandhan, sisters tie a sacred tired of love on the wrist of their brother, this sacred thread of love is known as “Rakhi”.

Raksha Bandhan is Hindi world made from the combination of two words “Raksha” & “Bandhan”. The word “Raksha” means Protection and the “Bandhan” means bonding. So as mentioned above that the festival of Raksha Bandhan means bonding of brother and sister.  None brother in this world want that her sister face any problem and difficulties so he always protect her lovely sister and this day make them remind that no matter what situation will be in future but they have to protect their sisters from all the worries.

Raksha Bandhan is celebrated in all the four corners of India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Rajasthan to West Bengal. This is not only the festival of brother and sister but this is an occasion to come together again and reunite and celebration.
